Reports: Programme Director
Role Objective and Context:
The primary objective of this role is to produce the Breakfast Show and local audio programming/production for Virgin Radio Jakarta to advance its position in the market place.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the Programme Director to deliver a breakfast audience in line with agreed targets, and that is capable of being sold on a branded basis to advertisers.
  • Work and studio assist the breakfast show during 0600-1000 Mon-Fri and during the execution of station events and radio OBs.
  • Ensure Breakfast Show scripting and content is consistent with Virgin Radio programming strategy and features maintain a high standard throughout.
  • Script and organise all promotions and liaise with sales/marketing on Breakfast Show and other programmes as required.
  • Manage, oversee and schedule the breakfast show social media strategy on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and all other relevant social media platforms.
  • With the Programme Director, and working with the local Sponsorship and Promotions teams, create strong local concepts and programme initiatives to provide compelling and topical programming for the target audience while satisfying the needs of the station Brand and clients as appropriate.
  • Script and produce audio trails (rewinds), sweepers and promotions as required using studio and editing technology (eg. Adobe Audition) including video content.
  • Liaise with Music Director, Audio Producer and other members of the Virgin Radio team on a daily basis to update on projects and to plan and prepare breakfast activity with individual stakeholders across the station (including other presenters).
  • Publish a daily brief to everyone in the station recapping the highlights of the breakfast show (with some content for everyone in the company to share on an individual basis) and with an expectation of what they can listen out for the next day.
  • Monitor competitor radio stations breakfast show and provide insight into their strengths, weaknesses and any change of feature, benchmark, strategy, sponsor or announcer.
  • Manage the implementation of programmes and features to utilise agreed budget to deliver committed results.
  • Ensure programmes are consistent with Virgin group standards, and with Indonesian broadcasting standards and regulations.
  • Adhere to group standards of behaviour and implement group HR, IT and Finance policies.

Experience and Skills:

  • Broad knowledge of today’s music trends/genres/lifestyle and music programming for the target audience.
  • Able to translate the station policy for the Brand into schedule formats.
  • A full understanding of the unique market position.
  • Able to support the design and delivery of creative programming content.
  • Assist in planning and running of station events
  • Broad general knowledge of radio programming and production and programme, promotional and contesting formats, with a focus on young adult format and young music knowledge.  
  • Good understanding of commercial issues, and their impact on programming choices.

Should be able to demonstrate:

  • Leadership - Able to display leadership skills and manage creative talent and freelancers with the appropriate language to meet programming objectives.
  • Creativity - Able to design and deliver creative programming content.     
  • Scheduling - Able to maintain and administer the programme schedule.
  • Technical -   Able to operate studio equipment and editing/production/video software

Key Working Relationships:

  • Responsible to the Programme Director, for ensuring breakfast show policy is within the parameters of station strategy.
  • Works with the Programme Director on related features and programming as required.

  • Nielsen results vs Station reach and share targets.
  • Adherence to local budget, as agreed in the quarterly planning cycle, with modifications as agreed with the Programme Director.
